This is for the pomegranate lover! This deep, dark red Sangria is bursting with tart pomegranate up front, balanced by the sweetness of the Black Muscat wine. You can adjust the sweet-tart balance even further by which rosé wine you select as your base. Whereas the traditional Sangria is red wine based, you can make a lip smacking Sangria with rosé!
- 1 – 750ml bottle of Rosé wine
- 2 oz lemon juice
- 2 oz lime juice
- 2 oz honey
- 16 oz club soda
- 2 oz Stirrings Simple Pomegranate Martini Mix*
- 2 oz Black Muscat dessert wine
- 1 lime, sliced
- 1 orange, sliced
- In a pitcher, combine the lemon juice, the lime juice and the honey. Stir until dissolved.
- Add the club soda and the wines.
- Garnish with the lime slices and serve over ice.
Lenny’s Wine Suggestions
Select a rosé to reflect the level of sweetness you want to achieve in your Sangria. I don’t like them overly sweet so I selected a dry Provencal Rosé Sainte-Victoire Gassier priced at $8.99. I mentioned in my Traditional Sangria recipe that Muscat is my secret ingredient. In this rosé based Sangria, I use Black Muscat. Black Muscat grapes can be crafted into a dry red table wine or into a deeply colored dessert wine. I used just a bit of the Elysium California Black Muscat dessert wine to add depth in color and flavor. It is richly delicious!
*I like the Stirrings Simple Pomegranate Martini Mix for the ease of use and it already has the sweet tart balance I am looking for. You can substitute regular Pom Love Pomegranate juice but you will want to either add some sugar to the juice or increase the honey or use a sweeter rosé wine.
