2010 Rotie Cellars Dre
Wine World and Spirits is happy to say that we’ve managed to get our hands on a few cases of Dre 2010 from Rotie Cellars. Ben Reece from Corfini Cellars: Dre is short for MourveDRE. This 100 case lot hails from Alder Ridge block #34 which is perched about 500 ft. above the Columbia River in the Horse Heaven Hills AVA. This quaint little spot is ideal for Rhone varietals such as Mourvedre due to its high heat indices, constant wind flow and insulation from the river preventing catastrophic winter freezes. Inspired by some of the great old producers of the Rhone Valley, Sean Boyd decided to take a chance and bottle this as sort of an homage to their go-to-end-of-the-day Mourvedre heavy blends. Soft red fruits and mineral on the nose followed by a lively and surprisingly “bright” portrayal of the characteristic dark fruits inherent to the varietal. Though savory and gamey notes persist throughout, the wine resists the urge to be one dimensional and carries a superb balance of f...
Aglianico, Arnie Millan, Campania, Italian wine, Rosé, and Terredora.
Terredora Di Paolo 2011 Rosaenovae Rosato
Among all the great wines I tasted seven weeks ago at ViniItaly, the world’s largest wine trade fair in Verona, one of the standouts was an inexpensive rosé wine from southern Italy called, simply, Rosænovæ from Terredora Di Paolo. This rosato is the perfect Summer wine, outstanding with a wide variety of foods especially grilled meats and barbeque. This spring I tasted a sample of this Italian rosé as it had not yet been released. Our local distributor had not committed to order any. So smitten was I by this superbly delicious and refreshing wine that I committed to a huge quantity in order to ensure we would get the wine upon release. And it will sell for only $14.99/bottle! Antonio Galloni, the Wine Advocate’s Italian reviewer, described the Terredora Rosænovæ (an earlier vintage) thus: “The 2009 Rosanovae Rosato (Aglianico) is one of the most interesting rosés I tasted this year. Dried roses, berries, spices, minerals and licorice are some of the notes that emerg...

Clive, Northwest Wine Anthem, raved about the Bookmark last fall. “This under $10 wine contains lots from the 2005 vintage for pete’s sake, it’s a blend of mostly Syrah, Merlot and Cabernet and other varietals comprising 11% of the wine. It’s mostly 2008 and in descending order, 09, 10 and 05 through 07. This is a sweetheart deal. It’s the kinda deal you typically have to know someone to get. The wine is like sneaking into a party you have no business being at. You’re getting to experience something you really have no business experiencing. The wine unloads on you aromatically and it’s a...
