Wine World & Spirits is hosting the second annual "Chili Cook-Off” as a benefit to the University Food Bank on Sunday, March 3rd, from 2-5 pm in the private Ballroom.
The Chili Cook-Off will be a fun afternoon competition between our loyal customers who can cook and judged by Firefighters from nearby Seattle firehouses! Attendees will try local wines paired with the chili entries. A winner for the People’s Choice Award for 2013 will be selected by the Firefighters. Tickets are $10 which includes 5 drink tasting tickets and sampling of the chili entries. Extra drink tickets are available for purchase and all proceeds will support the local University Food Bank.

Winemaker Lance Baer founded Baer Winery in 2000 with a single passion—to bring something unique to Woodinville. After years of working with some of the most prestigious wineries in the area, Lance wanted to take his winemaking skills in his own, creative, direction. Lance succeeded in handcrafting blends distinctly his own, and in April 2003 the winery’s signature blend, Ursa, was released. Ursa, a feminine expression of red wine, predominantly Merlot and Cabernet Franc, was soon followed by Arctos, a bolder Cabernet Sauvignon-based blend.
Tonight, starting at 7 pm, Northwest Wine Night will be filming right in the middle of Wine World & Spirits. There will be a blind tasting of wines as a panel discusses their favorites...including Wine World's own David LeClaire. Come down and enjoy some great wines by Baer Winery as you watch the filming.

Andrew Will winery makes about 4500 cases of wine a year give or take so many hundred cases. In addition to the blends they make from Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc, they also make Sangiovese from fruit grown at Ciel du Cheval. The history of the Sangiovese is as full as the other wines they have made but for now it lies in the shadow of the other varieties. Andrew Will Winery used to make varietal bottlings but by 2003 they had taken a vow to make as fine a wine as we could through blending the most important varieties they grow in Washington.
