Barons Winery-WA

6:00 pm – 8:00 pm
Barons Winery will be here pouring a selection of their Washington wines!
Barons winery was formed in 2001 by five business partners passionate about fine wine. Their talented consulting winemaker, Matthew Loso, has extensive experience in the Washington wine industry and his mission is to fully express the vineyard while making world-class, Old World-inspired fine wines of intense character and great aging potential.
Barons winery currently offers five wines: Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, Vine & Sun Red Wine, Columbia Valley Sauvignon Blanc, Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc and Petit Barone Red Wine.
Our signature Barons V Cabernet Sauvignon grapes are from top vineyards in Washington’s Columbia Valley and Red Mountain appellations. The Cabernet Sauvignon grapes are blended with a small percentage of Merlot, Petit Verdot, and Cab Franc to help intensify the structure, and then aged in 100% new American oak for over 2 years and in the bottle for a year before release.
2012 is the year of exciting additions for Barons Winery as they celebrate the inception of our first white wines: 2011 Barons V Sauvignon Blanc Napa Valley with grapes from the Spring Mt. Dist. of Napa California, and 2011 Barons V Sauvignon Blanc Columbia Valley with grapes from Eastern Washington. Both are a very good expression of the Sauvignon Blanc varietal and interesting to compare. They are also are introducing our 2009 Barons V Columbia Valley Petit Barone which is a Bordeaux style blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot aged in French and American oak.
Their passion is to produce consistently interesting fine wines that their customers thoroughly enjoy.

Samson Estates Winery-WA

6:00 pm – 8:00 pm
Samson Estates Winery brings a fresh face and a willingness to think outside the traditional barrel. They make judicious use of oak not wanting tasters with a woody taste in their mouths. They are part of a small but growing minority of winemakers who want to preserve the taste of the grape and not confuse it with wood.
Also a big-time producer of fruit wines, with Samson Estates’ raspberry wine outselling its other award-winning wines, including chardonnay, other fruit wines, dessert wines, riesling, merlot, a red-blend Meritage, and even a wine called “Oro,” which is made from fermented hazelnuts. With a family history of farming, Rob grew up surrounded by 200 acres of raspberries. In fact, the family farm is the source of the berries for Samson Estates’ raspberry wine. For the number-crunchers among us, let the record show that an astounding 3 pounds of raspberries go into producing one bottle of raspberry wine. No wonder it tastes like biting into a big handful of fresh raspberries picked at their zenith. This is not your grandma’s fruit wine!!
